Renee Goldfarb, owner of Origin of Era , said that it’s time to start anew, and that fresh start will be in Bay Shore ! This should come as no surprise to those who know this South Shore native as her retail roots had their birth in Bay Shore.
At 19 years old, Goldfarb was associated with Bay Shore’s Special Sauce, a former clothing staple in the community. She eventually ran the Fire Island location before taking on a career as a stylist in the fashion and entertainment industry. After 15 years in Film and Fashion , that expertise carried over into her next venture.
“Bay Shore paved the way for me when I started at Special Sauce, coming back there after all this time is a homecoming for me, and I am honored to be able to jump into this area with so many other amazing business owners.”
Origin Of Era Boutique opened its doors in late January of 2019 in the beautiful waterfront village of Port Jefferson, but the birth of this shop dates back to 2013 in Williamsburg Brooklyn (formerly SlapBack). With on trend pieces that shift its focus away from mass production and onto small independent, female only designers; Origin Of Era makes its mark by celebrating women.
The boutique caters to fashion enthusiasts with its rustic vibe, and really gives women a fresh approach to fashion by offering elevated Bohemian and Resort Styles that appeal to everyone. Inclusive, diverse, and wearable is what this shop truly conveys. Aside from offering wearable options for women, this shop is well rounded! Not only does it offer a vast selection of gifts, it has extended it’s small independent artisans to even include rare indoor plant's supplied by North Shore's WILD Plant Shop. It's gift selection also includes a series of 4 custom candles and vegan perfume oils inspired by Bay Shore, created by Goldfarb and local artisan maker The Birchden.

“You would be hard pressed to find mass produced items in our shop. We are extremely focused on offering small batch and sustainable products. We want to make sure when you shop with us you not only feel you are buying something exclusive, but can also feel confident about supporting women owned brands, designers, and makers in our industry. We know there is such an influx of Juniors and young contemporary & trendy, as well as the ease of buying Fast Fashion from shops and online domains, so we wanted to create a store by women, for women, and make sure we are inclusive in age, and aware of our accountability and transparency in the quality we offer. As a 50 year old woman I buy for women in our age bracket. We don't have to be conservative, we don't have to be covered up, but we do have to embrace our individual beauty, and that's what makes our shop and the women who shop here so special." - Renee
